Taking a Short Break (and One Man Symphony)
Hey,
From today, I will put the project on hold. Just need to get myself together before having the energy to tackle some features I want to implement into the game.
I have added updated screenshots (it's just one) to the project page, if any of you like looking at pictures.
Also, I want to share some information about someone who has indirectly helped with my game, and provided a majority of its music and sound effects. One Man Symphony, who I found on Reddit, had posted onto the r/gamedev subreddit about a free collection of 150 songs and sound effects to use in your games.
I was interested, so I checked it out. And I got to say, the stuff on there is amazing! So far, I've used 2 songs and a few SFX in my clicker game from this album and it just fits so well into the theme of the game. I would say that it's a match made in heaven, but that sounds way too cheesy.
Two days ago, I received this email from the creator (I have adjusted a few things for readability):
Hey, everyone!
I'm sending this message to everyone who downloaded the free album called Royalty Free Soundtrack Collection hosted on Bandcamp because I need your support. I'm aware of that many people have lost their jobs because of the coronavirus outbreak, and unfortunately I am one of those people.
When I first released the album, the date was March 02, 2020, and the last time I updated the album was May 30, 2020. During this time, over 1,000 people have downloaded the album, but only 6 of them supported this project on Patreon. Even though the numbers were discouraging, I kept expanding the content of the library, seeing how helpful it was for some developers.
A few days ago, I got a call about when we would go back to work again, and unfortunately it is not happening anytime soon and I have no more savings that I can rely on. Therefore, I might need to sell the tools I'm using to produce my music, meaning if I can not find enough support, this project will need to end even if I don't want it to.
If you can, please consider supporting this project on Patreon. Even as little as $1 and spreading the word would help me keep expanding the content. Thank you for reading this message and I hope that things will get better for everyone.
Regards, One Man Symphony
As a response to this, I wanted to help as much as I could. Below are the links to the free collection and their Patreon. Please support them, and if you can't give $1 a month, at least share this with people you know, it helps a lot more than you think.
